Dahlia
Dahlia Dahlia comes from Mexico and is named after
the Swedish botanist Dahl. Dahlias were introduced into
Europe in the late 1700s and have been cultivated as
garden flowers ever since. Many varieties are
double-flowered and the bright-coloured outer florets
hide the central disk florets. Although they will grow in
many different types of soils they do not survive
freezing and dahlia tubers have to be stored in a
frost-free place over the winter.
