Plumed Thistle
Plumed Thistle Cirsium japonicum like other species of
Cirsium has flowering heads with no ray-florets but only
disk-florets, which have pistils and some or all of them also have stamens.
In many members of the Daisy Family the sepals of each tiny floret are
hair-like and grow into the fluffy pappus of the seed which blows in the
wind.
