Amongst the flowering plants (Angiosperms) the Daisy Family (Asteraceae or Compositae) represents one of the great success stories and is probably the most highly evolved of the dicotyledon families. As they evolve, flowers tend to get simpler; the number of different parts gets reduced and bits of the flower such as petals join together. The daisies are masters of this art. [CH] {TP}
