Common Tansy
Common Tansy Tanacetum vulgare is a
strongly-scented plant with finely-divided fernlike
leaves and flat-topped clusters of deep-yellow flowering
heads. Each button-like unit of the flowering head is
made up of many tiny yellow flowers and resembles the
centre of a daisy without its white rays. Tansy is a weed
of roadsides and waste places. Its leaves make a good
insect repellent and a yellow dye can be extracted from
the flowers.
