Wild Ginseng
Wild Ginseng Panax quinquefolius is a low-growing
plant of rich woods. It has three leaves that divide at
the end of a long leaf stalk into a fan of five leaflets
with toothed margins. The flowers form a small round
cluster on a slender stalk that grows out where a leaf
joins the stem. The flowers are a pale yellow-green and
the fruits are a cluster of bright red berries.
