HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Wild Carrot

Wild Carrot umbel with purple floret Wild Carrot Daucus carota is a typical member of the Parsley Family with its finely-divided leaves and clusters of small flowers in large umbrella-shaped heads. In the Wild Carrot these heads are flat-topped and lacy suggesting the plant's other name "Queen Anne's Lace". There is often a single purple floweret in the centre of the white head. As the flowers age the whole head curls upwards like a bird's nest. The cultivated carrot comes from this species. [CH] {GW}
