HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Order Apiales

Bristly Sarsaparilla in flower There are two families in Order Apiales, the Carrot Family (Apiaceae) with about 3,000 species and the Ginseng Family (Araliaceae) whch has about 700 species. Most have divided leaves and many have their flowers clustered in "umbels" in which the flower stalks all grow up from the same point at the end of the flowering stem. Plants in this Order often have a distinctive smell. Some provide us with food or flavourings like celery, dill, caraway, coriander, parsley, parsnip and the familiar carrot. [CH] {EN}
