Angiosperms
Angiosperms fall into two major groups, the
Dicotyledons which have two
"seed leaves" and the Monocotyledons which have just one. Seed plants have
a reduced sexual generation in which male cells can reach
female cells without the need for watery surroundings and the
flowering plants have gone a step further by enclosing the
female sexual generation in an ovary. After fertilisation
the ovary becomes a fruit which helps in protecting and
dispersing the seeds.
