Adder's Tongue Fern

Adder's Tongue Fern Ophioglossum vulgatum is small and inconspicuous and as it often grows in grassy areas it is hard to see amongst the grass stems unless you know exactly what you are looking for. It doesn't look at all like a typical fern as it has a single stem with just one simple leaf about half way up and a little fertile spike on the tip that reminds one of a snake's tongue. [CH] {FG}
