Oak Fern
Oak Fern Gymnocarpium or Phegopteris dryopteris looks a bit
like a miniature, bright green, bracken plant as the leaves are much the
same shape. It is a delicate little fern which grows in shaded damp wooded
areas. Its fiddleheads, which are the new uncoiling fronds, are produced
throughout the summer, three on each leaf stalk opening out into the three
parts of the frond.
