HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Bracken

Frond of Bracken Most people recognise Bracken Pteridium or Pteris aquilinum which grows so abundantly in neglected fields, waste ground and sunny edges of woodlands. It spreads mainly from its creeping rootstocks and it is a tough species that can survive all sorts of extreme conditions. The large coarse fronds are divided into three triangular parts and they appear early in the spring. When they die down in the fall they can turn large areas a beautiful golden brown. [CH] {FG}
