Order Selaginellales
The Spikemosses are closely related to the Clubmosses, but they differ in
having two kinds of spores (heterosporous) instead of just one
(homosporous). The single genus Selaginella has about 800 species
mostly found in tropical regions. They are often confused with mosses as
they are small, creeping plants.
