Fucus on the seashore Brown algae (Phaeophyta) are all multicellular seaweeds living in the world's oceans. The brown colour is due to pigments used in photosynthesis. If you walk along the seashore at low tide you will often find the branched ribbon-like fronds of brown seaweeds attached to the rocks that are covered by the high tides. [CH] {EN}
