Brown Algae
In the ocean, Brown Algae can grow very large. One species, Sargassum, is
found floating in great masses in the Sargasso Sea, which is part of the
North Atlantic Ocean. This picture shows fronds of Kelp which are attached
by strong stalks to rocks on the bottom. Brown algae are a source of
iodine and vitamins and may be used as an agricultural fertilizer.
