How do Plants grow?
Stored sugars are used to provide energy for the plant
to grow and reproduce. An individual plant grows by
cell division. The first plants reproduced asexually
and later sexual reproduction evolved as a more efficient
method of mixing the pool of genes. Cones or flowers
contain a plant's sex organs. The colour scent and nectar
of flowers are devices to attract pollinating insects
and small animals.
