How do Plants live?

Sunbeam inside Forest The green colour of plants is due to chlorophyll which is a magnesium-based organometallic pigment. Chlorophyll absorbs certain wavelengths of light and uses the light energy to make sugars for the plant to use as food. This process is called photosynthesis and it is the basis for almost all life on Earth. No animal can make its own food using sunlight and all animals depend on plants at the bottom of the food web.
