IGUANA EATING GREEN ALGAE Green Algae (Chlorophyta) include some of the simplest algal forms. It is probable that all higher forms of plant life evolved from green algae. Their appearance in the web of life made animal evolution possible too as all animals ultimately depend on green plants for their food. This iguana feeds directly on green algae. A few species of Chlorophyta such as the sea lettuce may be eaten by people. [CH] {FW}
