BLACK CUSHIONS OF ANDREAEOBRYA Andreaeobrya are a group of closely related species of small Mosses that grow in dark-brown to blackish masses on rocks. They are found in areas with a cold climate and at the tops of mountains. They are often seen as some of the first colonisers of bare rocks. Members of this group seem to represent a sort of transition stage between Peat Mosses and the much larger group of the Eubrya. [CH] {ML}
