The tiny fruiting bodies of Japanese-lantern Slime Dictydium cancellatum are only up to half a centimetre high but they are common and easy to identify. They are seen on dead wood in summer and fall. Netted basket-like mushrooms are borne on long thin stalks a brownish-purple in colour. [CH] {AU}
