What are Mushrooms?
The mushrooms we see in the woods are fungal fruiting
bodies made up of massed strands of hyphae. Each
mushroom produces millions of tiny spores, the "seeds"
of the fungus. A giant puffball can contain 7,000
billion spores and if every one were to grow to
maturity the mass of fungal material would be many
times the size of the earth.
