Mussel
Closely related to clams, mussels are bivalved mollusk. Being bivalves they have two shells which are hinged together. Mussels are found in both fresh water and salt water. Those belonging to the family Mytilidae are marine and those belonging to the family Unionidae are found in fresh water. Marine mussels are harvested and considered a delicacy. [BM] {EB}
