The mouth of the brittle star is located on the undersurface. Within the mouth are 5 teeth. Brittle stars feed primarily on plankton and scavange the sea bottom. They have no anus.
Brittle stars are generally found in deep waters. These brittle stars are wrapped about lavander tube sponges.
