There are 3 major classifications of coral: Hydrocorals, Gorgonian and Stony coral. Stony coral is also commonly known as Hard coral. Stony coral includes plate coral, brain coral, cup coral and branching coral. Hard coral form the basic building blocks of all tropical, coral reefs.
