Any snake that spends a great amount of time in or around water is commonly called a water snake. There is, however, a rather large group of snakes that rightly deserve the title. They are those snakes which belong to the family Acrochordidae. All members of this family can be found along the coast of India to the Solomon Islands. The largest, commonly known as the elephant's trunk snake, can reach up to 5ft in length. [BM] {FW}
