The Glossy snake spends a great deal of time burrowing underground. It can, however, be seen sunning itself in the early evening in dry, sandy areas. This snake feeds primarily on lizards, although it is known to eat small mammals as well. Glossy snakes can be found from southern California and Mexico to southwestern Nebraska. [BM] {AS}
