Most commonly the colour and pattern of the Eastern Garter snake is olive green with distinct yellow stripes. Between the stripes are alternating rows of dark spots. This garter snake can be found in moist environments such as marshes, drainage ditches, farms and parks. The Eastern Garter snake can be found along the eastern coast from Newfoundland to Florida, as well as southern Ontario, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas. [BM] {AS}
