The Cottonmouth, also known as a Water Moccasin, is a very aggresive snake. When disturbed the Cottonmouth stands its ground, opening its mouth in a threatening fashion. As the mouth gapes open and shut, the pale "cotton" lining of the mouth is exposed. The bite of this snake is quite severe and may be fatal if not treated. MORE! [BM] {AS}
