Legless Lizard

The legless lizard looks more like a snake than a lizard. It has an elongated, cylindrical body, reaching 25cm in length. They have small eyes and the body is covered with smooth scales like that of a snake. There are only two species of legless lizard, both adapted for their sandy and loose soil environments. Legless lizards spend much of their time underground, burrowing to cooler locations. Furthermore, both species are found in California. [BM] {FW}
