The Green lizard is the second largest lizard in Europe. It can reach lengths up to 38 cm, two-thirds of its body length being tail. The green lizard has a large head and stout legs. The toes on the hind legs are quite long. The green lizard can be found in damp habitats, and are known to be successful swimmers. They hibernate from October to March when the weather becomes cooler. Green lizards range from southern Europe to western regions of Germany. [BM] {FW}
