Stinkpot Turtle

The skinkpot, or musk turtle, can be found in slow moving waters from southern Ontario to Florida, as far west as Texas. These turtles range in size from approximately 7 cm to 14 cm. They have domed shells which are olive, grey or brown in colour. As can be seen in this photograph the colour of the shell is often hidden by a layer of algae growing upon the carapace. The stinkpot is also characterized by 2 light strips on the head. MORE! [BM] {AS}
