Common snapping turtle killing brown water snake The snapping turtle has a heavy body with very strong jaws. Having a shell length of 38 cm, these turtles can weigh up to 50 lbs. The front limbs are heavily clawed and all limbs and head are able to retract within the shell for protection. Snapping turtles are usually found in the water.
