Snapping Turtle
The snapping turtle has a heavy body with very strong jaws. Having a shell length of 38 cm, these
turtles can weigh up to 50 lbs. The front limbs are heavily clawed and all limbs and head are able to
retract within the shell for protection. Snapping turtles are usually found in the water. However, when
they are on land and are approached by a predator they are known to be quite aggressive. Snapping
turtles often live in muddy, shallow bottomed lakes. MORE!
