Sea Turtle
These largest aquatic turtles in the world are easily characterized by their heart shaped shells and paddle-like limbs. They can be found in tropical and temperate waters. Sea turtles mate in shallow waters. The female then lumbers ashore to lay her eggs in a deep nest dug deeply into the sand with the hind feet. When the young hatch they must struggle to the water and swim out to sea. Many species of sea turtle are near extinction. [BM] {AS}
