Leathery Turtle
The leathery turtle, also commonly called leatherback turtle, is the largest of all sea turtles. It can
reach lengths up to 9 ft and weigh 1800 lbs. They do not have plates forming their shells, as most
other turtles do, rather they have bony shingles covered by a leathery, oil producing skin. They have
extremely long forelimbs, often longer than the body itself. They are quite fast in the water and spend
most of the time in deeper water than other turtles. MORE!
