Perhaps the most famous of all the true turtles is the green turtle. The green turtle has almost become extinct through human desire for the eggs and meat of this species. The large female green turtle makes an exhausting voyage onto land to lay her eggs, while out of water she is completely vulnerable to attacks by man. The eggs are also easily collected. MORE!
