Desert Tortoise
This endangered species is found in the arid, sandy habitat of southern California, Nevada and Mexico. They
are characterized by their highly domed shells, small head and flattened digging forelimbs. The desert
tortoise can most easily be spotted feeding on grass in the early morning and the late afternoon. MORE!
