Gurnard

Sorry, No Picture! The gurnard has a large, box shaped head which is protected by bony plates. A feature of all fishes with large, heavy heads, such as the gurnard, are large tail fins. Although, the box shaped head and large tail fin are not the most prominent feature on the gurnard, rather this fish can easily be recognized by the pectoral fins whose lower rays are separated and leg-like.
