Sorry, No Picture! The Sacramento smelt is found in the San Francisco area, and is quite small, reaching only 8 cm in length. Smelt are harvested as a popular food, the European smelt considered quite delicious despite the strong odour of cucumber which it emits. Smelt are also very important within the food chain.
