Lantern Fish
There are over 25 species of lantern fish. These small, minnow like fish are found in the deep seas.
They have light organs running in specific patterns along their bodies depending on the species. These
lights are used in determining sex and are used to lure prey. The lights are blue, green or yellow and
reflect large eyes glowing red. It is believed the lights can be switched on and off by a nerve and
possibly by hormones.
