Sand Eel 2
The sand eel is of
tremendous economic importance. Although the sand eel is not harvested for human consumption it
is harvested for bait and provides one of the main food staples for many fish species which are
harvested for human consumption. The sand eel has a peculiar habit of burying itself in the sand when
disturbed.
