The paradise fish was the first fish to grow in popularity among aquarists after the establishment of goldfish. It was the paradise fish that inspired the fashion of keeping tropical fish. In the mid 19th Century home aquariums grew in popularity; in many of those aquariums would have been found this flattened, grey-green fish known as the paradise fish. MORE! [BM] {FW}
