HELP INDEX NEXT UP PREVIOUS FEEDBACK ATG Icefish

Sorry, No Picture! Living in the bitter cold of the Antarctic the ice fish has made several adaptations. Although it lacks haemoglobin, and has yellowish transparent blood it has a heart several times larger than red blooded fish. Through the increased size of the heart the ice fish is able to deliver oxygen more quickly to its body despite the lack of red pigment which carries oxygen in many animals. It was originally believed that ice fish were bloodless. [BM] {FW}
