Pipefish
The pipefish is a long and wiry fish with extended snout. Of the 180 species most are marine, with
only a few occurring in freshwater. They range in size from 3 cm to 45 cm and come in a wide range
of colours and patterns. Like the seahorse, the many male pipefish carry the eggs in a pouch. The
young pipefish, when hatched, will often dart back into the fathers pouch when in danger.
