Coalfish
The coalfish, which is commonly called pollack in North America, is a member of the cod family.
Coalfish reach 3.5 ft in length. They have a dark almost black streak running along their backs, with
a white lateral line. They
feed on other fish and small crustaceans. Young cod fry are a prime target of schooling coalfish. The
coalfish is popular food fish, habituating waters from the Arctic to the Mediterranean.
