Loach
There are approximately 2 dozen species of loach. Several species have the shape of typical fish
however most are worm-shaped, reaching lengths no greater then 1 ft. The species differ in
colour yet all share the characteristic of thick stripping. All loach have short barbels, like
the catfish used for feeling along the ground and over rocks for food. Loach feed on such animals as
larvae and worms. All are freshwater found in Europe and Asia.
