Menhaden
The menhaden is a deep bodied fish, reaching lengths of 40 cm. Menhaden are found along the Atlantic coast of the United States. The menhaden live in large shoals of fish
numbering in the millions. These shoals of toothless fish feed on plankton in the warmer, shallow
costal waters. It is here that the menhaden faces its enemy. The menhaden is a popular food to other
larger fish and has been harvested by fisheries for many years, greatly depleting their numbers.
