Flying Fish 2
The flying fish swims very rapidly at the surface of the water with fins
tucked alongside, as the body lifts out of the water these fins are spread and the anal tail moves in a
quick sculling motion. As the fish taxis across the surface of the water it can become airborne and
glide for up to 45 seconds. Flying is a defence mechanism, however the flying fish is susceptible to
attacks by birds when in the air.
