Sorry, No Picture! The European eel has a long, slender body and can reach lengths of 5 ft. Found throughout Europe and North America the eel is a freshwater fish. Eating small animals the eel is known for cannibalism when the eel population becomes to dense. Eels have smooth, thick skin through which respiration occurs.
