Coelacanth
The coelacanth is perhaps the most famous and most important of all fish. With only a dozen or so
caught since the early 1900s this fish was long believed to be a missing link in the evolutionary chain
between sea animals and human beings. Several features of the coelacanth are of great scientific
interest. Such features include the muscular pectoral fins which rather resemble the limbs of primitive land
animals. MORE!
