Coelacanth 2
Coelacanth also have a tail fin which is divided into 2 equal parts, again suggesting further evolutionary
development to limbs. These are only two of numerous distinguishing features unique to this primitive fish. Once thought
to have become extinct 70 million years ago, its discovery during the 1900s astonished the world. Coelacanths can
reach lengths greater than 5 ft and weigh 120 lbs.
