Pocket Gopher 2
Ranging in size from 3.5 to 13 inches, the pocket gopher has a large and solid head. The skull
structure coupled with long, strong claws and a lean body are adaptations for burrowing. The eyes
and ears are quite small on the pocket gopher, moistened by a thick fluid. Pocket gophers are
found throughout the prairie region of western Canada, south to Panama.
